A silverback mountain gorilla, with offspring, in the Parc Des Vollans, Rwanda. The gorillas, made famous by Dian Fossey, became a symbol for the conservation of endangered species everywhere. Despite the work of an army of conservationists, Rwanda’s civil war has brought them to the brink of extinction.
